About Me

I came across Shiatsu 20 years ago by lucky accident and soon became hooked. It didn’t occur to me that I could ever become a Shiatsu practitioner at the time; Shiatsu and energy work seemed so mystical then, and anyway I was enjoying being on the receiving end!

Stephanie Ball - Shiatsu in St Leonards and HastingsFast forward 20 years and I left London to come and live by the sea. A friend introduced me to the Shiatsu College Hastings and the rest is history. The 3 years I spent studying there changed my life. The study weekends were an oasis of nurturing, healing, supportive energy that I cherished. I learned how energy imbalance is the root cause of disease and I learned how to diagnose that imbalance and how to support the body to right itself.

It is incredibly empowering to be able to do this, both for myself and for my clients. It’s a safe way of getting in touch with the body’s energy and a way of reminding the body what it’s meant to feel like.

I have worked in Social Services in Adult Social Care for the last 9 years and prior to that as a support worker / deputy manager in residential homes for people with learning disabilities. These roles have given me a wealth of experience and knowledge that is invaluable  in my Shiatsu practice. I am interested in people, in how to help them, and in how to help them help themselves.

Shiatsu isn’t just a job or a hobby to me; it’s a way of life and a way of perceiving and interacting with the world. It permeates and underpins everything I think, say or do and I feel lucky and privileged to have found it. Shiatsu works on a physical, emotional and spiritual level and through studying Shiatsu I have developed a foundation of spiritual awareness and practice which helps me deal with life better and more easily than I did before.

I love sharing this passion with all of you who I have treated and all of you who I am yet to treat. You will more than likely be on a journey of your own and I will be glad to be on part of it with you.

I am fully insured and a Member of the Register of the Shiatsu Society (MRSS). I continually update my learning both to maintain my registration and out of sheer curiosity and wonderment at the wisdom of the body and of Shiatsu.
